A handy gconftool-2 can control to your ubuntu setting. This is for removing user list in screen login of ubuntu 9.10 or karmic koala. sudo -u gdm gconftool-2 –set –type boolean /apps/gdm/simple-greeter/disable_user_list true And now I can type my user name first. And others won’t know how many user names are available.
